The Tale of the Bug

How is the shortest computer lie? - "It works!"

Something still does that. Not too many viruses, worms and bugs are to blame. Why
the computer virus called that, is still understandable. But why are computer errors "bugs" called? What has a bug something to do with a computer error?


The answer is relatively far in the past. The year 1945 registered - as the computer pioneer Grace Hopper and her colleagues were working on a computer system. At that time, the computers still huge, room-sized monsters. It was what today we like to computer related: The system crashed and now no longer functioned properly. Something had triggered a short circuit.

On Saturday it was finally here, our

youngest started school.
