One thing is certain: Without the moon it would certainly give life but it would not look like as it exists now.
If we had our sky star not so much the Earth would faster around its own axis: the days it would not 24, but 9-10 hours long. This thing does nothing more than to be difficult.

In comparison, the strongest hurricane in the history of the United States had a wind speed of 284 km and has had no trouble tearing homes from their soil.
So if there were living beings on our Earth, then the were flat in every way. And thus the devastating conclusion: Without the moon there would be no doubt upright-walking humans, only plaice and other flat animals. Thus, we should be quite grateful to the moon, after all, we can only go up because of him ;-)
